Must-Have Items for the Ultimate Wedding Day Emergency Kit!

February 15, 2024

As a seasoned wedding photographer, I’ve learned the importance of being prepared for ANYTHING that could happen on the big day. While my primary focus is capturing beautiful moments, I’ve found that having an emergency kit on hand can be a lifesaver for everyone! Here is what I suggest having on-hand for your big day!

  1. Mini Sewing Kit: A popped button or a torn hem can quickly throw off the day’s timeline. A small sewing kit with needles, thread, and safety pins can be a quick fix for wardrobe malfunctions.
  2. Stain Remover Pen: Spills happen, especially when nerves are running high (think of me, dropping lipstick all over my getting-ready robe. OOPS!). A stain remover pen can be a savior for getting rid of pesky stains on wedding attire.
  3. Pain Relievers: Whether it’s a headache or a sudden cramp, having pain relievers like ibuprofen or acetaminophen can provide quick relief for anyone in need.
  4. Tissues: Tears of joy are a common sight at weddings, so having a pack of tissues on hand is essential for dabbing away any happy tears. I also suggest giving these to someone to bring to the ceremony, and having them ready if needed!
  5. Snacks and Water: With all the excitement of the day, it’s easy for the bridal party to forget to eat or stay hydrated. FOOD IS ESSENTIAL. I always suggest packing some granola bars and bottles of water to keep everyone energized and refreshed.
  6. Touch-Up Makeup: A compact mirror and some essential makeup items like lipstick, powder, and mascara can help the bride and her bridesmaids freshen up throughout the day.
  7. Hairpins and Hair Spray: Loose strands or a windblown hairstyle can be quickly fixed with a few hairpins and a spritz of hairspray.
  8. Band-Aids: Blisters from new shoes or minor cuts and scrapes are not uncommon on wedding days. Having a few band-aids of different sizes can save the day.
  9. Emergency Contact List: Lastly, I always recommend carrying a list of important phone numbers, including the venue coordinator, florist, and other vendors, in case any last-minute issues arise. As your photographer, I will have this list for you as well!

By having these essential items in a wedding day emergency kit, you can tackle any unexpected challenges that may arise. This will allow everyone a chance to relax and enjoy every moment of your special day.
