Tucked just outside of Longview, Alberta, Emma and Austin’s garden party wedding at Willow Hill Lodge was the perfect mix of rustic charm and romantic magic. With wide-open mountain views, wild greenery, and meaningful little touches everywhere, their day was relaxed, heartfelt, and so them from start to finish.
But before we get into their wedding day, you have to see their Barrier Lake engagement session. It captured their playful, outdoorsy energy perfectly—and gave a little glimpse into the kind of love story we were about to witness on their big day.
These two knew each other back in high school. Even though they hung out in different circles, something just clicked. Ten years, a few degrees, and many long-distance months later, they’ve built something strong and steady.
Emma studied in Lethbridge and Calgary, while Austin was in Calgary and later Victoria. Once Austin started an internship in Calgary, they were finally in the same city again—and things just fell into place. Then came a snowy New Year’s Eve hike, peanut M&Ms for trail fuel, and a mountaintop proposal that was totally unexpected, heartfelt, and completely them.
Emma and Austin wanted their wedding to reflect who they are—laid-back, outdoorsy, and connected to nature. Their garden party wedding at Willow Hill Lodge brought all of that together with forested paths, wild gardens, and those incredible Rocky Mountain views.
They said their vows in a ceremony space tucked into the trees, with blooms and greenery all around and the mountains rising quietly in the distance. One of the most special details? The flowers were homegrown! Every arrangement added to the dreamlike, garden-party feel—soft, delicate, and full of intention.
Their colour palette of forest green, blush pink, and soft neutrals tied everything together—from the bridesmaids’ dresses to the table details under the reception tent. It all felt cohesive, elegant, and grounded in nature.
The reception took place in a bright white tent that felt cozy and inviting. As the sun dipped behind the hills, the whole space took on the warmest golden glow—perfect for heartfelt speeches, laughter, and yes… a few well-deserved mentions of their cats.
There were so many real, emotional moments—from teary vows to joyful hugs and quiet looks exchanged between Emma and Austin. Surrounded by the people who know them best, they created a day that felt deeply personal, beautifully intentional, and full of love.
As their Alberta wedding photographer, my goal is always to help couples feel like themselves—relaxed, present, and able to really soak it all in. From golden hour portraits to those big, emotional moments throughout, it was such a privilege to document their story.
Emma and Austin — thank you so much for having me and my team be part of it all. It was an honour to be there with you, to capture these memories, and to celebrate alongside your people. We’re so grateful we got to witness your love, your laughter, and your joy. Your garden party wedding at Willow Hill Lodge was unforgettable!
