I had been counting down the days for this wedding ever since Alyssa and Ryan booked me. Partly because I adore these two, and partly because this one felt extra close to home. You might recognize them from their engagement session we did last year in Kananaskis, one of my all-time favourite locations.
This wedding was especially meaningful because Ryan and my husband, Tom, have been childhood friends, and actually lived on the same street growing up! Tom was also Ryan’s best man, which made the day even more special. They’ve been through every stage of life together, so to stand there and photograph Ryan marrying the love of his life was such a surreal and emotional moment. We hang out with Alyssa and Ryan often, and they are truly two of the kindest, most down-to-earth people. From the very beginning, these two have been inseparable, and it’s so easy to see how perfectly they fit together.
Their wedding took place at The Legacy Centre in Edmonton, which made for the most beautiful celebration. The venue has a stunning courtyard that was perfect for photos. We were spoiled with the most perfect fall day: vibrant golden leaves and beautiful warm weather all day. And in true Alberta fashion, we woke up to snow less than 24 hours later—proof that we really caught the season at its most magical moment!
From the emotional walk down the aisle to the heartfelt vows, every part of the day overflowed with love and laughter. Their family and friends brought such incredible energy, and you could feel how loved Alyssa and Ryan are by everyone around them. One of my favourite parts of the evening was watching the two of them on the dance floor; completely in their element, surrounded by people they love, and absolutely beaming! Both Ryan and Alyssa danced the night away, and it was impossible not to smile behind the camera.
Alyssa looked radiant, and the way Ryan looked at her all day said everything. It’s the kind of love that feels joyful; the best kind of love story.
