Fall Wedding at Willow Hill Lodge with Shay & Chris

September 18, 2026

There is something so special about an Alberta fall wedding, and Shay and Chris’ wedding at Willow Hill Lodge in Longview was the perfect example of why I love this season so much!

Their day was fun-filled, cheerful, and full of thoughtful details that made the celebration feel completely like them. From their personal vows and handfasting ceremony to their unique record guest book, delicious bagels from Cochrane, and an epic sparkler exit, every part of their day felt intentional and personal.

An Alberta Fall Wedding at Willow Hill Lodge

Set in the beautiful Alberta foothills, Willow Hill Lodge was the perfect setting for Shay and Chris to celebrate their wedding day.

The weather gave us a very typical taste of Alberta fall, with a beautiful mixture of sunshine and clouds throughout the day. It was that wonderful time of year when summer is just starting to fade and the first hints of fall are appearing across the landscape.

Their wedding colours fit the season beautifully, with shades of blue, purple, green, brown, and rich reds inspired by the changing colours of fall.

Details Full of Meaning

One of my favourite parts of Shay and Chris’ wedding day was how personal their ceremony felt.

They chose to exchange personal vows, giving them the opportunity to share their promises to one another in their own words. They also incorporated a ring exchange and handfasting ceremony, adding another meaningful and symbolic element to their celebration.

I always love when couples choose to incorporate traditions that actually mean something to them. It makes the ceremony feel less like simply checking off the traditional parts of a wedding day and more like a true reflection of the couple!

And the personal touches didn’t stop at the ceremony! Shay and Chris incorporated some really fun details throughout their day, including one of my favourites: their record guest book. It was such a fun alternative to a traditional guest book and added a unique touch to their reception.

And … then there was the food! The couple chose Little Valley Bagel from Cochrane as their caterer, which was such a fun choice and another detail that made their day feel relaxed, personal, and completely their own.

Of course, we couldn’t end the night without a little bit of magic. Shay and Chris finished their evening with an epic sparkler exit, surrounded by their favourite people and soaking in those final moments of an incredible wedding day. It was the perfect way to wrap up a beautiful fall celebration.

The Perfect Fall Day

Looking back on Shay and Chris’ wedding day, it really was the perfect Alberta fall wedding. Beautiful scenery, meaningful traditions, colourful fall tones, personal details, incredible food, and so much joy throughout the entire day.

Congratulations, Shay and Chris! It was such an honour to document your wedding day and celebrate alongside you both. 🤍
